How You Will Make a Difference
The selected Digital Communication Specialist will lead the design and implementation of cutting-edge digital communication strategies. The main focus of this role is to strengthen community engagement, actively address misinformation, and promote polio vaccination across Pakistan.
Working closely with global UNICEF teams, government counterparts, and GPEI partners, you will build sustainable digital engagement initiatives tailored to the region’s evolving epidemiological context. You will also coordinate closely with regional partners—including cross-border initiatives with Afghanistan—to run multilingual digital campaigns aimed at high-risk communities.
Key Accountabilities:
- Improved Digital Communication: Designing and launching targeted public health campaigns.
- Digital Media Management: Overseeing digital platforms, content creation, and social listening.
- Advocacy & Partnership Building: Fostering strong ties with international development partners and local stakeholders.
- Capacity Building: Training teams and local networks on digital communication best practices.
Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
To qualify for this P-3 level international position, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
1. Education
- An Advanced University Degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Media Studies, Digital Marketing, Social Sciences, International Relations, or a closely related field.
2. Work Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in digital communication, social media strategy, or digital marketing.
- Proven track record of implementing digital strategies at national or international levels (preferably within a public health context).
- Demonstrated experience in misinformation management and fostering community engagement online.
3. Key Skills
- Strong knowledge of digital advertising, emerging media trends, and platform management.
- Ability to translate complex medical, scientific, or public health data into clear, accessible digital content.
- Excellent project management and interpersonal skills to handle diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in English is required.
4. Preferred Assets (Desirables)
- Prior experience working with a UN agency or international humanitarian organization.
- Experience using social listening and digital monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) or local languages.
- Experience supporting cross-border coordination or working in fragile development contexts.
