Hiring eight different positions, ranging from high-level General Manager roles to Sub Engineer spots. The stations are mainly Islamabad and Lahore, with one role based in Gilgit (yes, Gilgit — more on that in a bit).

Here’s a quick snapshot:

  • General Manager (Water Resource Management) – Islamabad
Think floods, glaciers, and hydrological modeling. They want someone who understands space-based applications (yes, satellites). PhD preferred.
  • General Manager (Climate Sciences) – Islamabad
Air quality, carbon credits, GHG emissions, aerosol monitoring. This is big-picture climate policy stuff.
  • Manager (Software Engineering) – Islamabad
AI/ML, image processing, web-based GIS, LLMs. Finally, a govt role that sounds like it belongs in Silicon Valley.
  • Assistant Manager (Environmental Sciences) – Gilgit
This one’s interesting. Based in Gilgit, focused on aeronautical monitoring and geo-spatial analysis. Perfect for someone who loves mountains and data.
  • Assistant Manager (Electronics Engineering) – Lahore
Project management, design, testing, and leadership.
  • Assistant Manager (Mechanical Engineering) – Lahore
CAD, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics. Classic mechanical stuff.
  • Sub Engineer-II (Electronics) – Lahore
DAE in Electronics with 60% marks.
  • Sub Engineer-III (Mechanical) – Lahore
    DAE in Mechanical, same criteria.

The fine print (read this before applying)

Here’s where it gets real. This is a contractual position, but they hint it might continue indefinitely. Also, they haven’t decided yet whether you’ll be on the Contributory Pension Fund or the Provident Fund — so keep that in mind.

Age limits:

  • Minimum 18 years.
  • For Sr. No. 4 to 8, upper age limit is 35 years (relaxable for specialized experience).
  • Cut-off date? The closing date for applications.

Academic rules:

  • Only one 2nd division allowed in your entire academic career.
  • No 3rd division at all.
  • For Sr. No. 1–6: final degree must be 3.0 CGPA or above.
  • For Sr. No. 7–8: minimum 60% marks.

Testing locations:

  • Sr. No. 1–4: tests/interviews in Islamabad only.
  • Sr. No. 5–8: Lahore only.

Written tests are required for Sr. No. 3 to 8 only. So if you’re aiming for GM-level, no written test — but don’t celebrate yet. Shortlisting will be brutal if too many people apply.

Things that stood out to me

  1. Space-based applications – Twice mentioned. This org is clearly working with satellite data. That’s pretty cool for a public sector setup in Pakistan.
  2. Gilgit station – Not many orgs post environmental roles in Gilgit. If you love the northern areas and want real fieldwork, this could be a gem.
  3. No TA/DA for test/interview – Wait, no, they actually said “TA/DA will be admissible.” That’s rare. Respect.
  4. One post per person – You can’t apply for multiple. Choose wisely.
  5. Government servants need NOC at the interview stage. Don’t ignore that.

Final thoughts

This isn’t your average “walk-in interview, bring 10 copies of your CV” kind of ad. The requirements are specific, the fields are specialized, and the organization seems serious about climate, water, and tech.

If you have the right mix of engineering, environmental science, or software skills — and you don’t mind a contractual start — this is worth a shot.

Just make sure your degrees are clean (no 3rd division, remember?), your experience is relevant, and you’re ready for a possible test in Islamabad or Lahore.

Good luck. And if you apply for that Gilgit role — send me a postcard from the mountains.
